The word from the mayor

ROUSSET A REAL ECONOMIC TERRITORY

During the last years, townships have invested heavily in various types of equipment to render their economic surroundings more attractive to potential investors but it is an inescapable fact that nowadays there is fierce competition between different prospective sites and enterprises. Such competition has nevertheless its positive aspect since it compels all the competitors to come forward with their best and most attractive assets.

Permanent and profound relations between enterprises and development sites are essential to achieve satisfactory conditions in improving local development.

The town is however well aware that whilst seeking implantation of new enterprises remains an economic obligation, this should not be to the detriment of existing enterpises already operational in the area and it is a vital necessity to grant them our full attention at all times There is no doubt whatsoever that a climate of confidence will foster a sense of loyalty to the region and this type of relationship will be to the advantage of the town's prosperity and financial autonomy.

More than anywhere else, we in Rousset are acutely aware and sensitive to such social phenomenon and we call on external partners because of their capacity to strengthen relations between leading enterprises, their subcontractors and suppliers ; this will contribute to the creation of a reliable network.

It is of course part of an all encompassing system where people, information and goods are each playing a vital role in the cohesion of the whole operation. Rousset is within easy access of the main decision-taking centres (the international airport, the TGV, the port of Marseille) and the proximlty of autoroutes is important in ensuring good communications and transport, all such factors being of major concern to enterprises.

Ready mobility is a primordial requirement in their operation. To this must be added the demands of the executives and the company management who more and more are looking for quality both in their work and their living environment.

Companies also want to profit from a good image, for many of them the equation between a company's competence and its position in the market often goes via its image(which represents its identity)and it should valorize the idea of quality that the enterprise wants to convey.

Also, I would like to think that from 1999 the business sectors of our municipality have been profiting from the start of an first grade environmental programme, to which will be added, in a three-year programme, the total reconstruction of the municipal and secondary roads.

As a witness and a participant in the economic developement of Rousset, I have always favoured the establishment of enterprises, whether they be SME, SMI or industrial.

It is a passionately interesting and extremely heavy task that I take to heart, and today, with the creation of the Rousset Park Club, we can go even further. We have a rural culture and a communal economy, we can do so many things if we do them together.

I take the pledge to do the utmost to improve the quality of life for those companies already operational in Rousset and at the same time let this be a message and an invitation to those who would envisage establishing themselves.
